The Bingley Arms @ BARDSEY

There are many contestants for oldest boozer in the land and this is the Yorkshire entry. Domesday book or not, the pub is well worth a visit as is the surrounding Hetchel Woods and Pompocali earthworks (Tellytubby land).

Highlights

Sunday 18th June 2024 “Fathers Day”

Special father’s Day Yorkshire Pub Walk with youngest son, he specifically said “No Mud”.
Soz Toby, hopefully Haggis bites at the oldest pub in Yorkshire made up for the squelchy paths.

Probably one of the oldest pubs in the land, c953AD, albeit self declared. Previously known as the priests Inn, it was a local stop off point for Monks en-route from St Marys Abbey in York to Kirkstall Abbey in Leeds.

We visited at the start of the ’24 Euro’s and enjoyed a pint of White Rat and some rather nice haggis bites.

Gareth Southgate’s England team made it to the final and who knows, we may ask him about it one day, if we bump into him when we add the Timble Inn to our list.
