The Fox and Hounds at West Burton
Taking in the amazing Cauldron and Aysgarth Falls, this walk is a fantastic choice when there’s been a downpour
Saturday 31st December 2022
Last pub walk of 2022, it’s been a while, weather not great
but we wrapped up well, Toby joined us this time to test out his retro camera.
Setting off from West Burton, an off the beaten track picturesque Yorkshire village, first we visited Cauldron falls. Amazing what a bit of rain can do the falls here are spectacular. Back through the village, over a few fields crossing a very swollen Bishopdale beck then on to St Andrew’s church at Aysgarth.
Beyond the church down the hill is the infamous Aysgarth Falls, the pictures don’t do it justice. We stopped off for a hot chocolate and carried on walking down the side of the river Ure before heading back to the Fox & Hounds at West Burton.
We finished the walk with a pint of Snowflake and a Theakston’s Pale. Roxy curled up under the table trying to get warm.
So now back at the cottage in Ripon looking forward to a meal out followed by a few bands playing in the market square and fireworks
to bring in the New year.
Happy New Year everyone, looking forward to more pub walks in 2023.
